About Us

How do traditional therapy and other forms of body work differ from what we do at Body Resonance?

mfr office

Body Resonance Myofascial Wellness Center, LLC is different from traditional physical therapy, massage, or chiropractic facilities because we address a significant and commonly overlooked head-to-toe system and structure of the body – the fascial system. In doing so, we address the root cause of the pain, not just the symptoms. By treating the actual root cause, symptoms can finally be eliminated. We use a holistic, whole body approach and perform strictly one-on-one treatments that produce effective and lasting results.

At Body Resonance, we look beyond the traditional methods of masking the pain or placing a superficial “band-aid” on areas that call for more than a temporary cover-up solution. Authentic healing and recovery is achieved by addressing your entire body's structural imbalances in addition to other underlying past emotional or physical traumas that are held within your tissue memory; only then will you be able to experience true, long-lasting effects that allow you to fully feel and function better, enabling you to return to the pain-free lifestyle you desire.

Our specialty in Myofascial Release (MFR) allows us to view each patient as a unique individual, and is particularly helpful in the treatment of both new and stubborn or chronic problems that have not been resolved by traditional methods. Our highly trained therapists use a multitude of manual techniques and movement therapy. We promote independence through education in postural awareness and proper body mechanics, self-treatment instruction, enhancement of strength, and improvement in flexibility and overall quality of life.

Our therapists have extensive training in MFR taught by John F. Barnes, PT, LMT, NCTMB, the leading authority on Myofascial Release, international lecturer, author, and acknowledged expert in the areas of physical and massage therapy since the 1960s, It is essential to be aware that there are many who advertise the use of MFR, but misleadingly practice an old, forceful, solely structural, and aggressive form of care. This old form does not follow the guidelines of the current holistic form of Myofascial Release as instructed by John F. Barnes. Therefore, it is important to seek an MFR therapist who specializes in the John F. Barnes approach for the ultimate whole mind-body care. This work is not simply considered “alternative” therapy; it is authentic therapy and the most natural, intuitive, and safest form of true healing on many levels. It is one of the most effective forms of treatment in healthcare today.

rowena cuaRowena Cua is a Licensed Massage Therapist specializing in JFB Myofascial Release. She is Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. Rowena has had advanced and extensive training in Myofascial Release and has studied directly with John F. Barnes since 2006. She is an assistant instructor for his seminars. She is the host and facilitator of the Las Vegas MFR Study Group for local therapists. Her goals and intentions for BodyMFR is to create a healing environment and community of love and natural healing.

Her work with MFR began in 2005 as a patient suffering from migraines and women's health issues. As a former gymnast and athlete in competitive sports, she had injures that led to chronic pain. She found significant relief of her own chronic symptoms with Myofascial Release. As a patient, feeling and seeing the rapid improvements in her own health and well-being, she felt a strong calling to become a JFB MFR therapist after attending The John Barnes's Healing Seminar in Sedona, AZ in 2005. Rowena wanted to own her MFR wellness center to practice this powerful and sacred healing modality to help other people to get back to a healthy active lifestyle. Since then Rowena has focused on studying JFB MFR and continues taking seminars to deepen and expand her knowledge and manual skills further. Rowena has completed and repeated all of the required classes to be an Expert Myofascial Release Practitioner. She currently uses MFR as her primary modality along with Craniosacral Therapy and energy work. Rowena has also been a dedicated instructor and educator at European Massage Therapy School in Las Vegas, Nevada. She is also one of six members of the advisory board for the school. She has been invited to talk on multiple radio shows and health expos as an expert in Myofascial Release and Fascial Tissue Dysfunction, educating and promoting the healing benefits of authentic healing through Myofascial Release. She devotes her professional career to educating the public, fellow massage therapists, massage students, and personal trainers on the benefits of JFB Myofascial Release.

Her other trainings in therapeutic bodywork include techniques from Dr. Maka’ala Yates in Mana Lomi, a form of Hawaiian hot stone massage, Mojave Rain (TM) a Native American ritual with therapeutic essential oils by Jordania Goldberg, and aromatherapy with AromaTouch Technique and Raindrop Therapy. In addition, she has trained and studied Inca/Mayan Shamanism with Elena Radford.

Some of her clients include professional dancers, athletes, Circque de Soleil performers, MMA/UFC fighters, physical/massage/occupational therapists, attorneys, entrepreneurs and personal trainers. She also has extensive experience in treating pre and post natal mothers, infants and children.

rosemarieDr. Rosemarie Cua-De Leon received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Stony Brook University in New York and also earned a B.A. in English from St. John’s University. She specializes in Myofascial Release; had graduated with Cum Laude Honors and other university awards in academia, leadership, and community service during her undergraduate years; was the recipient of the Community Service Award in her graduating physical therapy class at Stony Brook University; and was an active athlete in many competitive sports throughout her years.

She has extensive experience from sports orthopedic clinics in addition to outpatient facilities specializing in geriatric care, chronic pain, and Myofascial Release. Throughout her career, she has worked closely with populations ranging from pediatrics and adolescents to adults and geriatrics with commonly treated conditions such as neck and back pain; headaches and migraines; neurological, and acute or chronic orthopedic conditions; gait and balance disturbances; as well as individuals status-post surgical procedures and those involved with sport/work-related or motor vehicle injuries; vertigo; TMJ dysfunction; and auto-immune disorders. She also worked heavily with New York City FDNY and Long Island firefighters.

During her clinical affiliations, she had presented a 100+ paged pamphlet for the effective use of the McKenzie Method and its interventions and proper progressions in treating spinal/postural disorders, in addition to presentations specifically involving spinal stenosis, herniated discs and proper body mechanics in various specialized settings. She uses myofascial release, cranio-sacral techniques, and energy work and also takes appointments for therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-ed, occupation-specific care, and agility and plyometric training.

Her journey as an MFR therapist began after being treated as a patient after undergoing a whiplash injury. She was fortunate to have trained with highly skilled MFR therapists, and continues to take formal courses with John Barnes regularly. In her experience with treating various populations, she finds that there is nothing more effective and all-encompassing in treating the human body than myofascial release. She is a firm believer in treating patients as a whole as opposed to a single segment or body part. She and Rowena believe that patient education allows for individuals to be more aware of their bodies and more prone to taking on an active role in their well-being, self-care, and overall healing process. They both find that a safe and loving atmosphere for patients promotes the greatest space for healing.

For over 15 years he has dedicated himself to improving health and quality of life through education and bodywork techniques. He began this journey at the Utah College of Massage Therapy and has been practicing since 1999. His training includes John Barnes style Myofascial Release, Craniosacral Therapy, Structural Integration, Aroma (essential oil) Therapy, Neuromuscular Therapy, Injury Massage, and many other healing modalities.

Although a great deal of his experience has been in the spa setting on the world famous Las Vegas Strip, he has always focused on therapeutic work as a means to improve the quality of life in every treatment. After his introduction to John Barnes style Myofascial release, it was clear to Don that this is the most powerful type of mind-body therapy available. He is excited to be a contributing part of the team at Body Resonance Myofascial Wellness Center where he can focus on triggering the body’s healing response through Myofascial Release.

As a former teacher and administrator at the Utah College of Massage Therapy Family of Schools, education is a very important part of Don’s life and treatments. It has always been his practice to provide self-care information along with bodywork sessions. He feels that empowering people to be participants in their healing process is essential to that process. He is excited to carry this over to his work at Body Resonance Myofascial Wellness Center. His teaching credentials include Massage Basics, Advanced Massage, Injury Massage, Hydrotherapy, Structural Integration, and Professional Development. His former students have enjoyed successes around the world. It is difficult to find a spa on the Las Vegas strip with therapists who have not been influenced by his work as either a teacher or bodyworker.

Don is also a dedicated family man with a wife, three children, and a dog, all of whom have enjoyed his Myofascial Release treatments and are his greatest source of inspiration.

I have two children who are polar opposites of each other. One is mellow, and the other is quite spirited. At the end of the day, one thing is for sure. MFR helps quiet their soul and unwind their minds. I've seen them go from uptight or high-strung to a much-needed calm within minutes just by a gentle rocking motion. This method is not just for adults, but for children as well.

The subtle energy of Myofascial release was the only thing that gave me immediate relief with lasting effects. When you worked on my knee Rowena, the gentle touch initially felt soothing superficially and then after a few minutes I started to feel the fascia move underneath the skin. I could feel the restricted, bound area being stretched and released without pain. I was relieved and immediately after treating me I felt noticeably improved range of motion, loss of swelling and significant pain reduction in the local area. Additionally, below and above the injury the muscles felt much better. As a patient I believe in this work first hand and you have inspired me to practice this in my work as a therapist myself to help others find relief that works and lasts..thank you love !!!!!
